Affliate marketing is a practice of linking customers to merchants and receiving a commission when the customer buys a product from the merchant. In some cases, such as insurance quotes, you may be compensated as an affiliate by a 'lead' in which the customer fills out an application; you get paid for the customer buying nothing..just filling out an application or form.
You join affliate programs through affliate networks such as Commission Junction or Clickbank. Clickbank is my preference because they sell information products and downloads and that's what people come to the internet in search of..information. After you join an affiliate program, you can promote them through websites, blogs, pay-per-click, etc.
This is a great way to make money online as it has very little risk. The more effort you put into affiliate marketing, the more money you will make. The whole idea is driving traffic to the merchant. Traffic is key..and you will want targeted traffic...people who are interested in what you have to offer.
