Blogging has been a favorite hobby for many people for nearly 20 years. As I had mentioned in my previous post, why not make money online blogging? One factor that could hamper your efforts to make money with your blog is the promotion of your blog. If web surfers don't know that your blog even exists, then how are they going to know to visit it? As with any other business venture, a major key to your success is marketing. In this case, you want to market your blog. How can this be done?
Search Engine Ad Placements
Placing ads on search engines is a great method to get the word out about your blog immediately; but it does come with a cost. One of the most popular programs for this ad placement is Google Adwords. You may here programs like Adwords referred to as pay-per-click. I mentioned pay-per-click in my previous post regarding Google's AdSense program. Please don't get these two confused. AdSense is placing ads on your blog from others and receiving money when they are clicked on. Adwords is the program that is used where you create ads to promote your blog or website and YOU pay a certain amount each time someone clicks on your ad which directs them back to your site. If you don't mind spending a little money upfront on a pay-per-click program, the results can be very rewarding.
Social Media
Social media sites are an excellent way to promote your blog if you are wanting to go the free route. You can create a page on Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and start sharing your blog posts there. Be sure you share your social media pages with family and friends so they can help get the word out. This process will take more time than the search engine ad placement method.
If you are wanting to get the word out about your blog quickly, then I'd say that search engine ad placement is the route to go. If you want to save money and have a patient mentality, I'd go the social media route.
